World of Warcraft Patch 3.3 The Icecrown Citadel
The next WoW patch 3.3 is just around the corner and it is one that Blizzard WoW fans have been waiting impatiently for. Patch 3.3 promises to bring the Icecrown Citadel to our WoW gaming screens which was promised to us since the release of the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion pack last Christmas season. The second expansion to be released since the birth of the World of Warcraft, the Wrath of the Lich King was one of the most popular packs yet and with Cataclysm (the third expansion) on it’s way to the shelves the people over at Blizzard are looking to tidy up WOTLK with the release of The Icecrown Citadel.
What is The Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Halls?
The Icecrown Citadel will be a massive 5 player dungeon separated into three separate wings much like the Scarlet Monastery layout in WoW Vanilla. While the war rages on outside The Icecrown Citadel you and a band of four other players will be able to sneak in through an alternative entrance and take down the Citadel wing by wing. Of course, you will not be along in your endeavour as Jaina Proudmoore (Alliance) or Sylvanas Windrunner (Horde) will be accompanying your rag tag group of adventurers through this instance.
What Makes The Icecrown Citadel Different?
The Icecrown Citadel will incorporate PVP elements into its design. Much like the idea behind Wintergrasp where the winning faction can then explore VOA (Vaults of Archavon) as their reward, with The Icecrown Citadel players will have to battle on their faction war ships before qualifying to enter the dungeon. In addition to this players will have to work their way through each instance in order to open up each additional instance within The Icecrown Citadel.
The Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Throne
As the name would suggest this aspect of The Icecrown Citadel will be where players encounter the Lich King himself. This will be a 10 and 25 player raid dungeon featuring 12 encounters in each version and in both heroic and normal modes. For the first time in WoW history, players will be able to toggle between heroic and normal modes within the instance itself on a per boss basis. Reward item level will begin at 251 and end at an astonishing ilevel 277 in the 25 player heroic version. What awaits players in the actual Frozen Throne element of The Icecrown Citadel remains somewhat of a mystery.
Tier 10 Debate
Even if you aren’t at the edge of your seat thinking about the next raid in Patch 3.3 of WoW you may well be already looking over the new Tier 10 sets. This is one of the more controversial tier sets released as many people are disappointed with the look and feel of this new gear. In the past, Blizzard released tier sets that reused old meshes and icons however in the latest patch Blizzard are releasing a whole new look for their Tier 10 sets. Despite this many people are upset with these tier sets because they lack a unique quality. With the new Tier 10 sets everyone will look the same much like the Tier 9 problems, and the general feeling is by many that Blizzard need to start thinking a little more creative. However, despite the poor quality Tier 10 designs on many classes, most people will agree that the Tier 10 set bonuses are definitely going to give players a massive boost to their characters.
